Yarn & Colors

You will need small amounts of four colors. Any soft DK or sport weight yarn works beautifully. Exact brands and shades may vary — match to the swatches below.

A – White / Cream Off-white
Head, body, arms, legs, outer ears
B – Dusty Pink Blush rose
Inner ears, collar, dress trim, heart
C – Tan / Camel Warm tan
Dress body/skirt
D – Warm Brown Terra
Nose (small amount or embroider)
Yarn Tip A smooth, tightly spun yarn shows stitch definition best in amigurumi. Avoid fuzzy or bouclé yarns — they obscure stitches and make counting difficult.

Before You Begin Work in continuous rounds unless otherwise stated. Use a stitch marker to track the beginning of each round. Work through both loops unless BLO or FLO is specified. The invisible decrease (worked through front loops only) creates a much neater finish than a standard sc2tog — it’s highly recommended for all amigurumi.

Round 20: (2 sc, dec) x 6 [18]

Round 21: (1 sc, dec) x 6 [12]

Round 22: dec x 6 [6]

Fasten off, close opening with yarn needle. Leave a long tail for sewing head to body.

Embroidery & Blush After assembly, use 2 strands of black embroidery floss to sew delicate eyelash arcs above each eye (3–4 short lines radiating upward from the outer corner). Apply a small amount of pink blush chalk or cosmetic blush to each cheek area using a cotton swab. For the nose, sew a small oval (approx. 5 sts wide, 3 sts tall) in Color D warm brown floss, or attach a tiny crocheted nose ball.

Long Floppy Ears

Each ear is made in two layers — an outer (Color A) and inner (Color B) — then joined.

Outer Ear (Color A – make 2)

Round 1: 4 sc in MR [4]

Round 2: (1 sc, inc) x 2 [6]

Round 3: (2 sc, inc) x 2 [8]

Rounds 4–6: sc around – 3 rounds even [8]

Round 7: (3 sc, inc) x 2 [10]

Rounds 8–18: sc around – 11 rounds even [10]

Fasten off. Do not stuff.

Inner Ear (Color B – make 2)

Round 1: 4 sc in MR [4]

Round 2: (1 sc, inc) x 2 [6]

Rounds 3–16: sc around – 14 rounds even [6]

Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Joining the Ear

Flatten each outer ear piece. Place the inner ear panel (Color B) on top of the flat outer ear, centering it lengthwise. Using the long tail of the inner piece, whip stitch or mattress stitch around the outer edge to attach, leaving the bottom open. The inner ear will be slightly narrower, creating the recessed pink look. Do not stuff. Pinch the base slightly to add a natural curve before sewing to head.

Body

Color A – White/Cream

Round 1: 6 sc in MR [6]

Round 2: inc x 6 [12]

Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 [18]

Round 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 [24]

Round 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 [30]

Round 6: (4 sc, inc) x 6 [36]

Rounds 7–20: sc around – 14 rounds even [36]

Round 21: (4 sc, dec) x 6 [30]

Round 22: (3 sc, dec) x 6 [24]

→ Stuff body firmly before closing.

Round 23: (2 sc, dec) x 6 [18]

Round 24: (1 sc, dec) x 6 [12]

Do not fasten off yet — join the head to the body and sew closed through both layers for extra security, or fasten off and sew separately. Leave a long tail.

Dress Skirt

The dress is crocheted directly onto the body after the white body piece is complete, working into a round of body stitches. Alternatively, make it separately and slip it on before assembling.

Color C – Tan / Camel

→ Join Color C to any stitch around round 10–11 of the body (measured from top). Work in continuous rounds.

Round 1: sc in each stitch around [36] – or join to existing stitches

Round 2: (5 sc, inc) x 6 [42]

Round 3: sc around [42]

Round 4: (6 sc, inc) x 6 [48]

Rounds 5–8: sc around – 4 rounds even [48]

Change to Color B – Dusty Pink (trim/hem)

Round 9: sc around [48]

Round 10: (sc, ch 1, skip 1) around for picot edge – OR sc around for simple hem [48]

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Dress Alternative If you prefer a removable dress, work rounds 1–10 in the round without attaching to the body. Add 2 sc in every stitch on round 1 for a flared skirt that slips over the body. Attach the collar separately.

Collar

Color B – Dusty Pink

Foundation: ch 28, join with sl st to form a ring (or work around body stitches at neckline).

Round 1: sc in each ch around [28]

Round 2: (inc, 1 sc) x 14 [42]

Round 3: sc around [42]

→ For a ruffled collar: in round 3, work 2 sc in every stitch [84]. Fasten off.

Fasten off, leaving a tail. Slip the collar around the bunny’s neck and sew in place, centering it at the front. The ruffle will flare outward naturally.

Arms

Color A – White/Cream

Round 1: 6 sc in MR [6]

Round 2: inc x 6 [12]

Rounds 3–4: sc around [12]

Round 5: dec x 3, sc x 6 [9]

Rounds 6–14: sc around – 9 rounds even [9]

Stuff lightly (paw end only). Flatten the top opening. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Make 2.

Legs

Color A – White/Cream

Round 1: 6 sc in MR [6]

Round 2: inc x 6 [12]

Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 [18]

Rounds 4–5: sc around [18]

Round 6: (1 sc, dec) x 6 [12]

Rounds 7–14: sc around [12]

Stuff firmly. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Make 2.

Heart

Color B – Dusty Pink

The heart is worked in two halves joined together.

Heart Half (make 2)

Round 1: 6 sc in MR [6]

Round 2: inc x 6 [12]

Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 [18]

Rounds 4–5: sc around [18]

Fasten off on first half. On second half, do not fasten off.

Joining the Heart

Place both halves side by side. Using the working yarn from the second half, sc across the top of the first half to join them together, creating the two lobes of the heart. Continue working around both joined pieces, tapering to a point at the bottom by working decreases at the center bottom. Stuff lightly before closing. Fasten off and close.

Simplified Heart Option Work 6 sc in MR, then inc x 6 [12], then (1 sc, inc) x 6 [18], work 4 rounds even, then (1 sc, dec) x 6 [12], stuff, dec x 6 [6], close. This gives a rounded flat disc heart which is equally charming and easier for beginners. Flatten slightly and pinch one edge to suggest a heart point.

Nose (Optional Crocheted Piece)

Color D – Warm Brown

Round 1: 6 sc in MR [6]

Round 2: inc x 6 [12]

Rounds 3–4: sc around [12]

Stuff lightly. Fasten off, leaving a tail. Flatten slightly into an oval. Alternatively, embroider the nose directly onto the head using 3–4 strands of warm brown floss in a small inverted triangle shape.

Assembly

Pin all parts before sewing. Step back and check proportions from a distance before committing each piece.

  1. Collar: Slip the collar around the body at the neckline (approx. rounds 2–4 from the top of the body). Sew in place, centering the ruffle at the front.
  2. Dress Skirt: If made separately, slide onto the body and sew to secure at the waist. The hem should fall near the leg attachment point.
  3. Head to Body: Center the head on top of the body with the face pointing forward. Sew firmly all the way around through multiple stitches, rotating as you go for an even join.
  4. Ears: Position both long ears at the top of the head, 6–8 stitches apart. The ears should droop naturally to each side with the pink inner face pointing forward. Angle them very slightly outward. Sew through the flattened base firmly.
  5. Arms: Sew to the sides of the body at rounds 3–5 from the top of the body (just below the collar). Arms should curve slightly forward and inward as if hugging. Position them symmetrically.
  6. Heart: Place the crocheted heart between the bunny’s arms, at approximately rounds 4–7 of the body. Sew the back of the heart to the body front so it appears to be held in place. You may also tack each arm lightly to the sides of the heart.
  7. Legs: Sew to the bottom of the body, pointing forward and slightly outward. Space them about 6 stitches apart. The bunny should sit upright and balanced — adjust positioning before knotting off.
  8. Nose: If using the crocheted nose, sew to the center-lower front of the face, between rounds 13–15 of the head. If embroidering, do this before assembling the head.
  9. Final Details: Embroider eyelashes above each safety eye. Apply blush to cheeks. Tug every sewn part gently to test security. Re-stitch anything loose. Trim and weave in all remaining yarn ends thoroughly.

Finishing & Care

Give your finished bunny a gentle reshape. The head should be large and very round, the body plump and upright, and the ears long and gracefully floppy — they may be lightly steamed or blocked to encourage them to drape softly.

Ear Shaping: If ears are too stiff, lightly mist with water and shape by hand. If too floppy to drape prettily, run a length of chenille wire or pipe cleaner through the center of each ear (trim ends safely inside the base).

Color Variations: Try grey and lavender for a dreamy version, cream and sage green for a woodland look, or black and gold for a chic modern bunny. The construction is identical in any palette.

Washing: Hand wash gently in cool water with mild soap. Reshape while damp and allow to air dry completely away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

Safety Note: This toy contains safety eyes and small crocheted parts. Not suitable for children under 3. For babies and young toddlers, embroider all features instead of using safety eyes.
